Jim Morrison Room

This beautiful restored farm house has had a lot of thought and love put in to make the guest experience absolutely unique. The adult only b&b has been delightfully arranged so that access to the outdoor space seems private and set away from the owner’s quarters. The hosts Jo and Steve and their small cat family are very friendly. The hosts have really put a lot of effort into the property which is perfectly situated in Cueva just a stone’s throw from Arboleas town. The rooms are double and decorated in a simple bohemian style with an Andalusian style modern en-suite tiled bathroom. The AC unit in the bedroom provides warm and cold air perfect for whatever the weather. The pool area leads off your room and has an amazing large pool/jacuzzi and sun terrace. The surrounding views are simply breathtaking. The poolside is also complimented by a vast bar/kitchen area where an honesty box is in situ There are also separate bathroom facilities along with a TV room with dining table and log fire that is connected to the poolside kitchen/bar, where you can perhaps buy from a local market and prepare an evening meal for yourself if you so wish? Or alternatively your hosts will gladly prepare for you a lunch/evening meal upon request. There is room to park a vehicle on the premises or alternatively you can choose to park outside the property. On entry there are stairs that lead into the main guest quarters where you are greeted with a large closed terraced dining area with a large juke box with contains a mixed genre of music. In here you have access to complimentary tea/coffee making facilities as well as a fruit and cake bowl, ideal if like me “anytime is tea time”! In the morning you can help yourself to yogurt, fruit, cereal & pastries, or alternatively the hosts offer a full cooked breakfast from locally sourced ingredients on which I was able to alternate some ingredients as and when required. I would absolutely recommend a stay here to anyone who was thinking of visiting the Arboleas area as it is well situated for all needs. I can’t wait to return and repeat another enjoyable experience with the lovely Jo and Steve. Thanks again guys for a wonderful break and for all you efforts to make my stay so enjoyable!!

We stayed at the Rock ‘n’ Roll B&B in October. We had the Hendrix Suite. Wow!

Before I get to how amazing our suite was let me tell you about this place as a whole and believe me there’s a whole lot to tell!

The pool is amazing! However big you think it looks in the pictures… it’s bigger. The Rolling Stones “lips” logo is the focal point: eat your heart out Mick Jagger!

The pool is quite deep at one end and shallows to gently ascending steps at the other next to the Jacuzzi, so be a paddler or a confident swimmer it will suit all. Next to the pool is the pool bar which is perfectly situated to grab a cold beer or an Aperol Spritz which you can enjoy either sat at the bar or whilst relaxing on one of the perfectly placed sun loungers around the pool. There is the self-catering kitchen right behind the bar so you can make yourself a sandwich or a light bite.

Walk down through the little fruit orchard at the side of the house to the patio at the front of the house and enjoy the stunning views over the valley to the small village of Arboleas. This is within easy walking distance and there is a bank, a tabac, a small gift shop and a few well-appointed bars. They also have markets 2 days a week so you can pick up some new sunglasses or some trinkets to take home. On a Saturday be sure to check out the rotisserie chicken stall, the chicken and roasted potatoes are perfect hot or cold!

Back at the house there’s a stunning breakfast room with a full length balcony that looks out over the valley. Nowhere better to enjoy your morning coffee and a delicious homemade breakfast. There’s a vintage juke box too where you can select your favourite tracks to get you in the mood for a rock ‘n’ roll B&B type of day.

Our typical day was a coffee on our private terrace then up to the sun terrace to watch the sunrise, this place is so peaceful you will sleep well and want to rise early. After breakfast it’s time to get in the pool and do some much needed sunbathing.

We liked a walk into the village for an afternoon beer or two. Then it’s siesta time before a refreshing shower and off out for dinner. The local choice is varied, good quality and very reasonably priced.
Sometimes of an evening we’d join Steve and Jo for a while in the music room which is amazing or just sit under the stars chatting.

The Hendrix Suite surpassed all our expectations. You have your own private terrace for a start with views over the lower courtyard and over the valley. From there you enter through your own entrance into the suite. The artwork and fun coloured furniture is a feast for the eyes. You have a large wardrobe and a beautiful bathroom at the far end. Your lounge has a large comfortable sofa, there’s a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The bedroom is the a dream, a four poster bed decorated with sheer drapes, fairy lights and cushions in every colour of the rainbow. The room is so peaceful, in the morning the sunrise will gently wake you, unless you fancy a lay in, in which case just close the wooden shutters. I have never slept better than in this room!
Having a lounge area is lovely if you want to sit and relax of an evening however as we’re from the UK we spent as much time outdoors as possible!
Everything is beautifully decorated and the attention to detail is second to none.
The sheets are crisp and clean, there are cosy blankets if needed and the bathroom towels are fluffy and seem to smell of the sunshine!

The music room is a sight to behold! It’s like a 70s/ 80s record shop where you can browse the thousands of records and play them at your leisure. The detail from the ceiling tiles and the carpet down to the way the records are displayed and the framed pictures on the wall is spot on. You really are transported back to the golden age of buying records in your youth – the only thing missing is the till! You have to see this place to believe it, again like the pool however big you imagine the music room to be….its bigger!

Step out of the music room (which is soundproofed so you can really turn that volume up to number 11!) into the beautiful shady lower courtyard and take a wander back through the upstairs breakfast room and you’ll find the book nook where you can peruse and choose a book to read, there’s a big window that looks down into the courtyard and there’s usually a welcome breeze blowing through.

The cats! For me the cats are the icing on the cake well maybe the marzipan because Jo and Steve are the icing!

They won’t bother you but tip them the nod and they will happily trot over to you for some love and playtime. You’ll often see them scaling the high walls near the pool or up on the roof inspecting that all is as it should be. They really add to the ambiance of this place with their presence, pure relaxation and lazy days of sunshine.

Jo & Steve, this couple will make your holiday. Whether you need local information or ideas of where to go for a day at the coast they will help you. There’s nothing that’s too much trouble. They are a welcoming, friendly, very funny couple from Sheffield. Steve is like a walking music encyclopedia. What he doesn’t know isn’t worth knowing! Josie is the artistic one, most of what you see here was either created or procured by her. We spent many an hour chatting with them and can honestly say that they really did make us feel at home from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.

Will we be back again? You try to keep us away! This place will be in our holiday calendar for many years. It’s just perfect, and then some!

We were the first guests staying at this lovely accommodation that Steve and Josie have transformed into this amazing property in Arboleas . The bedrooms and all the property with it’s lovely decor were outstanding not to mention the ‘music room ‘ which Steve had made his mark on his love for music ! Juke box and memorabilia with every type of good old LPs , singles you could think of absolutely filled this special room with pride n passion which is certainly not to be missed while staying here . The pool and bar area need to be enjoyed and one will not disappoint . Will definitely return to this wonderful B n B with these great couple who could not do enough for their guests .

Steve & Josie are the nicest couple you’ll ever meet & the best hosts by far. When they suggested that I have my 65th birthday party at their fantastic house,Cortijo La Cueva in Arboleas , I was absolutely over the moon. It’s just a great venue. The outside kitchen & bar area are top class. It also has an inside buffet area & the outside having plenty of space for dancing , whilst having plenty of seating for the less energetic! The terraces & massive pool & jacuzzi are just great & many friends enjoyed a night time swim.
We had around 40 guests & everyone had a brilliant afternoon , evening & night. Cortijo La Cueva, Arboleas is definitely the best venue for a party & I would highly recommend it to all. Thank you again Josie & Steve for looking after us all so well. (see photos of our great night

We have been coming to Mojacar region for over 25 years and have stayed in all types of accommodation imaginable but I can honestly say that this beautiful accommodation has to be right up there with the best. Spotlessly clean, bright airy rooms furnished to high standard with amazing views all around. All the accommodation is themed around rock & roll and music in general, they even have a large collection of vinyl records in a stunning music room with its own Juke box all to use at your leisure.
Our hosts Josie & Steve were amazing not intrusive in any way but always available either around the poolside bar or kitchens.
There are fantastic bike trails to explore and typically Spanish villages to visit for Tapas and Sangria, Albox is a must with its huge pedestrianised square with a hotel bar serving food and drink all day. If all that exertion is just too much on a hot day then just stay at Josie & Steve’s and enjoy the gorgeous crystal clear pool and a glass of wine or two in the shade, stunning!

This will become an annual ritual for me and my man (quite frankly there’s no better weekend in Almería if you just want to have chill ? and tranquilo , listen your favourite music ? by the pool ? or on the amazing music room ) We just made friends for life ❤️

We started mid April in this beautiful B&B for 2 nights BUT because of the wonderful welcome, accommodation and beautiful surroundings we stayed another night because we didn’t want to leave! The pool area is stunning. It’s more than a B&B, it’s an experience with the loveliest hosts.
Jo and Steve are just fabulous, so welcoming, kind and generous. They can’t do enough for you.

We stayed at Cortijo La Cueva in March.
The Janis Joplin & Jim Morrison rooms were perfect and with the adjoining dining room, with the vintage jukebox & music memorabilia, reading corner, and drinks on tap, it was like having our own country retreat.

The music room was mind blowing, an incredible collection of music, just like the old vinyl record shops.

Everything was spotless, with everything you could possibly need for your stay.
Food was brilliant, the pool and bar area were stunning.

A short stroll into Arboleas, and only minutes drive to Albox, there is everything you could need in the local area.

Jo & Steve are incredible hosts. Nothing is too much trouble, and made us feel very welcome.

We will definitely be back in Summer

The accommodation is superb. The atmosphere of the area is delightful and the views magnificent. The small town is a short walk away and has many hidden secrets.

had my 60th birthday party at this amazing place. Josie and Steve are the most attentive hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Food was amazing, wonderful well stocked bar. Thoroughly recommended for anyone else with a special celebration. We stayed overnight in the Jim Morrison room. Wonderful comfortable beds with everything you could wish for there. My husband had the big breakfast in the morning, kept him going all day!

We had an excellent stay, Jo and Steve are very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make your stay pleasurable, the whole feel of the place is very relaxed and if you are a lover of music you will be blown away by the music room, one of the best collections I have ever seen. We certainly hope to return

I spent 5 wonderful days with Steve and Jo in their beautiful guest and home. Nothing was too much trouble and they were very helpful with knowledge for my search for a property in the area. After being out viewing all day I came home to some lovely home good meals. If you are searching for a place in the sun I couldn’t recommended Cortijo La Cueva enough. What a fabulous place, Steve & Jo couldn’t do enough for you. As hosts they are perfect, so welcoming and friendly creating a lovely atmosphere. We were in the Jim Morrison room straight out the door and into the pool, heaven. If you like music you must visit Steve’s music room, now that is a sight to see. We were sorry to leave but we shall return, hopefully soon. All the best to Steve & Jo.

Hats off to Josie and Steve. I can’t say I’ve stayed in such a place that emitted such peace and tranquility. My partner and I turned up last minute, greeted with pizza and wedges (the BEST- which was easily understood after getting to know them a little) . We arrived after a really long day of work and travel and rang ahead of time to see if they could point us in the right direction for some food. Thinking they would direct us to the nearest bar/restaurant (bearing in mind it was past midnight by the time we arrived) they had it all laid out for us without a blink of an eye.

I’m English and live in Spain so naturally asked them “what made you move to Spain?’ they answered “oh well it all started with a new place in the sun”.. me . Thinking they were joking about watching TV, went along with it and realised that no matter how they had come about this wonderful idea, they had done it with 100% perfection. My partner and I in a mad rush about work had booked this place thinking we had stayed here before, to realise we were so THANKFULLY wrong and had booked the most adorable, peaceful, welcoming and all round fabulous villa.
It’s not just the location of the villa, nor the complete silence at night time (minus the odd rogue toad) but Josie and Steve, are genuinely the kindest people I’ve ever met. To be greeted with a hug and a huge welcome and understanding. To rubbing suncream on my back whilst my partner was away at work and then wishing us a huge farewell as we headed off in to the abyss. It was such a wonderful experience and I do hope that someone reads this one day and experiences the same dreamy escape that we did. My point of view: the silence and tranquility. My partners point of view: he had the opportunity to behave like a dolphin in the pool!

From the minute we arrived we were made very welcome by team Jo and Steve. The rooms are nicely decorated and very comfortable. Towels provided for shower and pool. Lovely pool and bar area where we enjoyed drinks with other residents and Jo and Steve. There is a great choice for breakfast. They have worked so hard to get to where they are and we wish them every success for the future. The music room is a dream for music lovers.

We spent just 2 nights at Cortijo la Cueva inspired by watching Steve & Jo on the television. What a fantastic 2 days, the property is amazing and the music room is a sight to behold!!!! Rooms are superb and the food offerings are equally excellent. The daytime menu while you lounge around the pool is just right and the evening meals were equally so, Steve has many talents:) Music choices are numerous, an old fashioned Juke box in the dining room, a music set-up in the pool bar area and last but not least the 27 club, I challenge you not to leave opened mouthed with what Steve has created here.
You absolutely will not leave disappointed

We can only compliment the quality and hospitality at la Cueva.
Steve and Jo not only looked after our every need on site, but went above and beyond with our needs to deliver the hire car back to mojacar, but also giving us a lift to meet our airport pick up at 7.ooam 10 miles away.
After that, the stay was fantastic, food first class. Hygiene and home comforts second to none.Keep up the splendid work guys.

What a wonderful couple we call now our friends. They are so friendly and hopitable. We really recomment to book this cortijo! They have a beautiful cortijo and such wonderful rooms. We stayed in the Jimi Hendrix room and the Janis Joplin room. Very comfortable rooms. We enjoyed our time there so much that we even decided to return after initially leaving for Granada. This is definitely the place we recommend for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
We will be back. That’s for sure!!!!

Only stayed 1 night for hubby’s birthday, were made to feel so welcome and Jo had put a birthday banner up in the room! Beautiful room, food was amazing..especially that breakfast! Steve & Jo are fantastic hosts. The music room is a wow, a must see!

Jo and Steve are two amazing people who built a dream with blood sweat tears and love.
We followed their story and saw 1st hand the hurdles they had to overcome to get to where they are today. We are full of admiration for you both and your achievement.

Steve who is the chef, and I’m sure Jo is involved too, pulls out some amazing dishes.
I can’t recommend highly enough for traveler’s to stay in this wonderful hidden gem. Their attention to their guests is 1st class, nothing is too much bother for them.

Wow! This place truly is special. We “rocked up” for two nights and stayed three… only because they were booked up, or we’d have stayed longer. Already rebooked for longer, later this year. Great welcome from fantastic hosts, superb decor and attention to detail. Fantastic food, first class facilities. We met the loveliest other guests too. What an absolute gem of a place. The beds are so comfortable, you couldn’t fail to get a great night’s sleep. Fluffy white towels, everything is spotless. Well done Jo and Steve… you are on the “right track”!!!

Still on cloud 9 after returning from a weekend away with friends yesterday. Steve and Jo are so friendly and looked after us exceptionally well, we couldn’t have asked for more,nothing was too much trouble. Our rooms were beautiful,all rock and roll themed,spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Continental breakfast is complimentary but cooked breakfasts, lunch and evening meals are available at a very reasonable extra charge. Steve cooked us a delicious bbq on Saturday evening and Jo provided the homemade cakes afterwards. Their music room holds a fantastic collection of vinyls and music memorabilia and a few are available to purchase.
The surrounding views are amazing,we would never have believed that we were only 30 minutes from our village.
Thank you both for a fabulous time, we had great fun and will definitely be back!!

Stayed last weekend with a group of friends so had the place to ourselves. Jo & Steve are the most amazing hosts nothing is too much trouble we had an absolutely fantastic time. We’ve recently returned from an idyllic fortnight holiday at Cortijo La Cueva…. A first for us in Southern Spain, we will defo be back next year. Steve and Jo are the ultimate perfect hosts…. We’d like to regard them now as friends. They were always on hand to offer advice and assistance. Catering is top class too, with Steve able to rustle up anything off the menu in a relatively short time, well cooked and presented. The topper for us was defo the music room, there was some rain on our first couple of days but that didn’t matter as we made use of the music room with a few trips down memory lane rediscovering old memories in the vast selection of albums and other music formats…. Certainly a hidden gem of a music room. The pool and honesty bar are just a fantastic place to spend the sunny days and cool evenings, we were even joined by Jo and Steve on a couple of evenings enjoying drinks by the pool, and a BBQ on a couple more nights too…. We also enjoyed the company of various other guests as the holiday went on, all lovely people with similar interests and musical tastes to ourselves. Our room was very comfortable with a modern en suite shower room as well as the retro look decor in the Janis Joplin room. The “Roadhouse” dining room was also out of this world with the old Rowe Ami jukebox… Free to play, I enjoyed it so much that I copied the Playlist and made up a Spotify Playlist so I could take the jukebox with me!
All in all, we had a fantastic holiday which ticked all the boxes we could think of, and a few others too…. Can’t wait for our return holiday next year.. Well done to Jo and Steve… You’ve nailed it!!

We have stayed in every room, had afternoon tea twice and I had my 60th birthday party here. We have had most of the menu choices, both breakfast and dinner! Jo and Steve are absolutely amazing hosts, nothing is too much trouble. The food is amazing, with good prices for food and drink menus. We are already booked to come back in December to stay and experience the afternoon tea and meet back up with some lovely people we recently met whilst staying there.
