Places Of Local Interest And Further Afield…

A leisurely stroll of around 15 minutes will take you over the bridge across the Rio de Almanzora into the village of Arboleas or alternatively take a stroll along the old railway path, behind us and into the surrounding area where you can sit in the sunshine or under the shade at any of the local café bars and eat delicious, home-made tapas whilst sipping on an ice cold drink, we never get bored eating & drinking around here!

Our weekly market is held every Saturday morning with clothes, handbags, sunglasses, flowers, locally grown fruit & veg all being sold and when you´re all shopped out, stop off at the Rotisserie chicken van and grab some lunch to takeaway – it really is finger lickin´ good!

We are also just an easy 30 minute drive away from the beautiful Mediterranean coastal towns of Mojacar, Garrucha, Vera Playa & San Juan De Los Terreros, with the long stretches of sand, clear blue sea, sunny skies and the chance of a cheeky cocktail, it´s very hard for us not to play truant with a beach day so close by!

If you enjoy exploring historical or Cultural Heritage Sites including castles, caves, Moorish palaces, architecture and even a mini Hollywood in the desert, we have all that and more virtually on our doorstep from anywhere between a 30min to 2hr drive. You can visit Lorca Castle, The Cables Ingles (the English Pier) in Almeria City or the stunning Alhambra Palace in Granada and many more places of interest to visit during the day, before heading back to Cortijo La Cueva for a cooling dip in our pool and time to enjoy a sundowner on our roof terrace as the sun sets behind the hills.
